- Indian benchmark indices continued to remain buoyant with the markets gaining more than a per cent on Monday. Sensex and Nifty crossed the psychological barriers of 60,000 and 18,000, respectively, in today’s session.
- Sensex ended with a gain of 786 points at 60,749 and Nifty just above 18,000 – at 18,012, a gain of 225 points.
- The rally was led by IT, Auto, Pharma, Oil & Gas, Consumer Durable and Financial Services indices with all sectoral indices ending in the green. Metal remained somewhat under pressure in today’s session but still managed to gain.
- Among stocks that gained the most today, Ultratech Cement, M&M, HDFC and Eicher Motors were among the top performers. Apollo Hospitals, Dr Reddy’s, and Tata Steel shed in today’s session.
