Sony, Zee Sell 3 Hindi Channels to Address Anti-Competition Concerns
- Sony India and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. have voluntarily sold three Hindi channels—Big Magic, Zee Action, and Zee Classic—to alleviate potential anti-competition issues from their proposed merger.
- According to the order, Big Magic, Zee Action, and Zee Classic, Hindi film channels, would be sold by the two corporations. After the CCI’s prima-facie finding that the merger would harm competition, they voluntarily modified the contract.
- ‘Star India Private Ltd. or Viacom18 Media Pvt. (including their respective affiliates)’ cannot buy. The buyer should be unrelated to the resultant firm and its associates. According to the oath, it cannot be a past or present employee or director or their spouse or kid.
