  • Companies are increasingly using subcontractors and gig workers to meet project deadlines due to the pandemic-induced demand for IT talent and a global shortage.
  • In 2022, two-thirds of the 70 organisations polled by Nasscom, Indeed, and AON used gig workers.
  • The 2020 figure was 57%. Gig workers make up less than 5% of the workforce (for enterprises with over 2000 full-time employees) despite an increase in their use (FTEs).
  • Smaller firms with less than 2000 FTEs have gig worker proportions over 5%.
    By 2023, the gig economy will generate $455 billion. 23.4 million Indian gig workers are predicted by FY30.
