Government increases windfall profit tax on crude oil while lowering diesel export rate

  • With effect from Thursday, the government raised the windfall profit tax on domestically produced crude oil from ₹ 9,500 per tonne to ₹ 10,200 per ton.
  • The price for exporting diesel was decreased from ₹ 13.5/litre to ₹ 10.5/litre.
  • The ₹ 1.50/litre road and infrastructure cess is included in the diesel levy.
  • As of November 1, the export duty on aviation turbine fuel was fixed at ₹ 5 per litre.
