Indian Railways’ Freight Earnings Rise 17% in April-October 2022

  • Indian Railways’ loading and revenues for the first seven months of current financial year 2022-23 rose 17%.
  • The ministry of railroads reported freight loading of 855.63 million tonne (mt) between April and October, up 9% from previous year’s 786.2 mt.
  • Railways earned Rs 92,345 crore, up 17% from Rs 78,921 crore.
  • Following the motto “Hungry for Cargo,” the Indian Railways has made persistent efforts to increase ease of doing business and service delivery at reasonable pricing, resulting in new traffic from both traditional and non-conventional commodities streams.
