Rupee Accounts to Increase Bilateral Trade: Report

  • The Indian government is attempting to increase bilateral commerce through customised rupee accounts and is now in discussions with a few smaller nations.
  • It is also apparently attempting to internationalise domestic payment options.
  • The Economic Times said that the goal of this debate is to replace SWIFT by developing a separate payment environment and getting rid of trades that are dominated by the dollar.
