AI Mission to help startups with computing power : PM Narendra Modi

Must proceed with extreme caution': PM Modi on use of AI
  1. India is set to launch an AI Mission aimed at enhancing artificial intelligence-related computing capabilities nationwide, as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
  2. The AI Mission will focus on maximizing AI’s potential in sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, and education, offering better opportunities for Indian startups and innovators.
  3. Modi highlighted plans to promote AI skills in tier-II and tier-III cities by leveraging the existing network of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the country.
  4. Acknowledging the ethical concerns and negative impacts of AI, Modi emphasized the necessity for a global framework governing the ethical use of AI, including protocols for testing and deploying high-risk AI tools.
  5. Modi stressed the importance of an inclusive AI technology to achieve sustainable development goals, cautioning against the darker aspects of AI, including potential risks such as the weaponization of AI by non-state actors.
  6. He called for transparency in data and algorithms to minimize bias and democratize AI, suggesting that transparent, bias-free AI would be a significant step towards making the technology more inclusive and transparent.
