D2C brand Vahdam Teas losses spike 3.4X in FY23 with flat revenue

  1. Vahdam Teas experienced stagnant revenue, remaining at Rs 204 crore in FY23 compared to Rs 200 crore in FY22.
  2. Losses for the company surged significantly, jumping 3.4 times from Rs 16 crore in FY22 to Rs 55 crore in FY23 due to increased procurement and advertising costs.
  3. The majority of Vahdam’s revenue (67%) came from the United States, while Europe contributed 17%, and India accounted for 6.3%.
  4. Its ROCE and EBITDA margin worsened to -49% and -23% respectively. On a unit level, it spent Rs 1.30 to earn a rupee in FY23.
  5. Company raised $23.6 M in Series D in 2021 at $95 M valuation, total raised $39 million till date
