Govt launch MedTech Mitra scheme for Medtech startup

  1. The government initiated the MedTech Mitra platform to aid MedTech innovators, reduce reliance on imported medical devices, and assist in regulatory approvals.
  2. Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya emphasized the platform’s role in guiding young talents, shaping their research, and facilitating regulatory clearances.
  3. Mandaviya highlighted the MedTech sector’s heavy reliance on imports (80%) and aims for indigenous development to decrease this dependency significantly.
  4. The government envisions transforming India’s healthcare sector by 2047, striving for self-reliance and progress in line with the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
  5. Mandaviya projected the MedTech industry to reach a $50 billion valuation by 2030, crediting technological advancements contributing to rapid transformations in the medical device sector.
