  1. Uttar Pradesh has emerged as India’s second-largest state economy, with a 9.2% share in the country’s GDP.
  2. UP, thus has outpaced Tamil Nadu (9.1%), Gujarat (8.2%), and West Bengal (7.5%). States like Karnataka (6.2%), Rajasthan (5.5%), Andhra Pradesh (4.9%), and Madhya Pradesh (4.6 %) are also behind UP, says the report.
  3. The state’s progress is credited to reduced organized crime, advancements in industrial development, and improved standings in the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ rankings.
  4. Uttar Pradesh has received investment proposals exceeding Rs 40 lakh crore through GIS 2023, aiming to create over one crore employment opportunities.
  5. Additionally, UP is experiencing growth in exports, an increased bank loan-deposit ratio, and a rise in revenue surplus, marking a significant transformation in its economic landscape.
  6. A t present, the state is exporting goods worth nearly Rs 2 lakh crore. The loan-deposit ratio of banks has increased from 42-43% to 56% while work is being done to increase it to 60%,” he added. “P is now a revenue surplus state, with 56% of its population employed. Around 96 lakh MSMEs have been established.
