upGrad commits Rs 100 crore for 100 'connect and counselling' hubs
  1. upGrad, a Mumbai-based edtech firm led by Ronnie Screwvala, plans to open 100 offline connect and counselling touchpoints and learning centres across India.
  2. To support this expansion, the company has allocated an initial fund of Rs 100 crore and aims to extend its reach to non-metropolitan areas and smaller towns.
  3. upGrad has already inaugurated its first two counselling centres in Mumbai and Delhi, as well as its first two learning centres in Indore and Pune.
  4. Within a month of inauguration, the company conducted over 500 career counselling sessions, with the objective of guiding over half a million individuals on their career decisions.
  5. The company also aims to enroll over 10,000 learners in the learning centres.
  6. According to Mayank Kumar, Co-founder and Managing Director of upGrad, the company aims to empower individuals beyond metros with career guidance and high-quality learning.
  7. The centres will serve as hubs for career counselling, providing access to all of upGrad’s courses and programmes.
  8. upGrad already has a physical presence through more than 50 franchises and 150 channel partners.
  9. Founded in 2015, upGrad operates across various educational sectors and recorded a revenue of Rs 1,194 crore in FY23, marking a 96% increase from the previous financial year.
