What the rewards actually mean
The highest advertised cashback rate is conditional. It applies to eligible Amazon Business purchases and eligible flight and hotel bookings for Prime members; the non-Prime rate is lower. The official release says cashback is capped at 5% of the monthly credit limit, so a business cannot assume unlimited rewards.
The product also offers 2% on eligible bill payments and recharges through Amazon Pay and 1% on other eligible spending. Businesses should compare those returns with supplier discounts, bank-transfer terms and other cards. Moving a purchase solely for cashback can be counterproductive if the underlying price or payment terms are worse.
Working-capital benefit and risk
An interest-free period of up to 48 days can help bridge the gap between buying inventory and collecting customer revenue. “Up to” is important: the actual period depends on the statement cycle and transaction date. Carrying a balance beyond the due date can add interest and charges that quickly exceed cashback earned.
The card is not automatic working-capital approval. Applicants remain subject to Kotak Mahindra Bank’s eligibility checks and credit decision. The partners also mention three-month no-cost EMI on eligible purchases, but merchants should check processing fees, exclusions and whether any discount is surrendered when selecting EMI.
GST-compliant invoices on eligible Amazon Business purchases may support bookkeeping, but a card does not determine input-tax-credit eligibility. The buyer must still satisfy tax rules, keep valid invoices and ensure purchases are used for the business. The official announcement’s reference to GST benefits should not be read as tax advice or a guaranteed saving.
Fees and application checks
There is no joining fee. The published annual fee is ₹499 plus taxes, waived after ₹3 lakh of eligible annual off-Amazon spending. Applicants should verify which transactions count toward the waiver and whether cash advances, fees, reversals or excluded merchant categories are omitted.
Before applying, a proprietor should compare the card’s credit limit, billing date, foreign-exchange charges, late fee, finance charge and dispute process. A fully digital application may speed up onboarding, but it does not remove the need to read the key fact statement and cardmember agreement.
Owners should also keep business and personal purchases distinct. Separate records make expense review easier and reduce confusion when reconciling statements. An additional credit line can support timing differences, but it should not substitute for a cash-flow forecast or disciplined repayment plan.
Lapaas Voice has also covered Shiprocket’s quarterly operating performance and DMart’s store-network milestone, two reminders that small-business tools ultimately matter through cash flow and execution.
