Anthropic has introduced Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion, two new tools designed to help users turn business data into interactive dashboards and transform reports, charts and ideas into animated explainers. Announced on October 8, 2026, the features expand Claude’s capabilities beyond text generation, coding and document creation into data analysis and visual communication. Claude Dashboards is available in beta on paid plans, while Claude Motion is in beta for Team and Enterprise customers. The launch reflects Anthropic’s broader effort to make Claude a practical workplace assistant for professionals who need to analyse information and communicate findings without building everything manually.

The announcement also includes an update to Claude’s existing productivity tools. Claude Docs, Slides and Design have moved out of beta and are available across all Claude plans, including the Free plan. According to Anthropic’s official announcement, the company wants users to move from asking questions about information to creating usable outputs directly inside Claude. The new features are intended to reduce the technical effort required to explore company data, prepare presentations and explain complex ideas visually.

What Is Claude Dashboards?

Claude Dashboards is an AI-powered data visualisation tool that allows users to create dashboards by describing what they want to understand in ordinary language.

Traditionally, building a business dashboard can involve writing SQL queries, connecting data sources, selecting visualisations and configuring a business intelligence platform. Claude aims to simplify this process by allowing users to ask questions such as how sales this month compare with the previous month or which regions are generating the most customer sign-ups.

The tool can connect to data platforms including Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks and Snowflake. It can also use connected business applications, including Salesforce, to create views of information such as sales opportunities.

Once connected, Claude retrieves relevant information and generates a dashboard with charts and key figures. The dashboard is designed to remain current as the underlying data changes, rather than functioning only as a static report.

Key features of Claude Dashboards

  • Natural-language queries: Users can ask business questions without manually writing every database query.
  • Live dashboards: Visualisations can refresh as the underlying data changes.
  • Query transparency: Users can inspect the query behind a displayed figure and ask Claude to explain how it was produced.
  • Data freshness information: Charts indicate when their information was last refreshed.
  • Integration with analytics tools: Dashboards can be passed to supported business intelligence and analytics platforms for further investigation.

Anthropic says the tool is designed to complement existing analytics software, not replace every specialised data platform. When an investigation requires more advanced analysis, users can transfer their work to supported services such as Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, Omni, PostHog and Sigma.

Support for Looker, monday.com and Tableau was listed as coming soon in the announcement.

What Is Claude Motion?

Claude Motion is a tool that converts reports, charts, product walkthroughs and other material into short animated explainers.

A business user could ask Claude to turn a quarterly performance report into a 30-second animation for an internal meeting. A product team could create a moving visual explanation of a new feature, while a marketing team could animate charts for a presentation.

Rather than generating a conventional video from scratch, Claude Motion writes code that animates text, shapes, images and charts. This approach allows users to edit individual elements and adjust the timing of an animation.

Users can make changes through the editor or ask Claude to revise the output. Finished animations can be downloaded as MP4 files and taken into supported creative applications for further editing.

How Claude Motion differs from AI video generators

The key distinction is that Claude Motion focuses on animating existing information and designed elements rather than generating footage of people, locations or scenes.

InputsPrompts, reports, charts, text and images
TechnologyCode-based animation

The code-based approach could be particularly useful for businesses that need precise control over figures, labels and product information. For example, a company can update a revenue number or change the timing of a chart animation without regenerating an entire video.

However, the tool does not eliminate the need for editorial review. Users still need to check that the underlying data is accurate, the animation communicates the intended message and the final output meets their presentation requirements.

Claude Dashboards and Motion: Availability and Pricing

Anthropic has introduced the two features with different access rules.

Product or featureAvailability as announced
Claude DashboardsBeta on paid Claude plans
Claude MotionBeta for Team and Enterprise
Claude DocsAvailable across all plans, including Free
Claude SlidesAvailable across all plans, including Free
Claude DesignAvailable across all plans, including Free

Anthropic has not announced a separate standalone price for Dashboards or Motion in its launch announcement. Access depends on the relevant Claude subscription and, for Enterprise customers, organisational settings.

Enterprise administrators must enable Dashboards and Motion through the organisation’s settings because both features are disabled by default. The rollout therefore does not mean every workplace user will automatically have access.

The company also highlighted collaboration and sharing improvements across its broader productivity tools. Teams can work together on documents, presentations, designs and dashboards, while permitted users can share outputs outside their organisation.

Export options include PowerPoint and PDF downloads that preserve formatting, as well as editable Google Slides exports. Mobile editing is also supported for certain content types.

Why Anthropic Is Expanding Claude’s Productivity Features

The launch comes as AI companies compete to become central tools in everyday office work.

Chatbots initially gained popularity by answering questions, summarising documents and drafting text. Businesses increasingly want systems that can also perform tasks using connected data, produce visual outputs and fit into existing software workflows.

Claude Dashboards addresses a common problem in business analytics: employees often need help from data specialists before they can answer relatively straightforward questions about company performance. By generating dashboards from natural-language requests, Anthropic aims to make exploratory analysis more accessible to managers, sales teams, marketers and other non-technical employees.

Claude Motion addresses another challenge: communicating information clearly. Reports and spreadsheets may contain useful findings, but static tables and slides do not always explain changes or processes effectively. Short animations can help audiences understand comparisons, sequences and product features.

The two tools also extend Claude’s existing document and presentation capabilities. Users can potentially move from analysing data to presenting the results and creating an animated explanation within the same broader AI workflow.

This does not mean that every task can be completed without specialist software. Complex data modelling, advanced analytics, professional video production and regulated reporting may still require dedicated tools and human expertise.

Competition in the AI Productivity Market

Anthropic is entering a market in which AI companies are increasingly combining conversational assistants with workplace applications.

Microsoft integrates AI capabilities into its productivity ecosystem, while Google continues to incorporate AI into its document, spreadsheet and collaboration products. Other platforms are also developing tools that connect business data with automated analysis and reporting.

Anthropic’s approach is to expand Claude’s ability to create practical outputs while connecting it to established data and analytics services.

The strategy could appeal to businesses that want employees to explore information without learning multiple technical tools. However, adoption will depend on more than the quality of the initial output.

Companies will need confidence in data permissions, access controls, the accuracy of generated queries and the reliability of dashboards. They will also need to determine whether AI-generated visualisations fit their existing reporting processes and whether employees can reproduce and audit important results.

For Claude Motion, the central test will be whether the animations save time while maintaining the precision and consistency required for business communication.

The Bigger Picture

Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion illustrate a shift from AI assistants that primarily generate text toward systems that create interactive and visual work products. By connecting business data to natural-language analysis and offering editable animations, Anthropic is targeting tasks that traditionally require a combination of analytical knowledge, design skills and specialised software.

The potential benefit is greater productivity for teams that need to understand data and explain decisions quickly. But the value of these features will ultimately depend on accurate inputs, transparent calculations, effective integrations and appropriate access controls. AI-generated dashboards and animations can simplify work, but they do not remove the responsibility to verify the underlying information.

Looking Ahead

The next phase will involve testing how well the new tools perform in real workplace environments. Users will need to assess whether Claude Dashboards produces reliable answers from connected data and whether its query transparency is sufficient for reviewing important business figures. Claude Motion will need to demonstrate that editable, code-based animations can reduce production time without compromising the accuracy of reports and presentations. Anthropic may refine the features as it gathers feedback during the beta period.

Over the longer term, these capabilities could make Claude more useful across the entire workflow of analysing, presenting and communicating information. Wider adoption will depend on subscription access, integration quality, security requirements and how consistently the tools deliver useful results. For now, the launch marks another step in Anthropic’s effort to position Claude as a broader workplace productivity platform rather than solely a conversational AI assistant.
