What the GNFC filing confirms
The company said the Government of Gujarat withdrew Beniwal’s nomination and nominated Kumar for additional charge through a General Administration Department notification dated 5 September. The Times of India independently reported that Beniwal was moved to the Surat municipal commissioner role and Kumar, principal secretary to the chief minister, received the GNFC assignment.
The Secretariat also reported the wider seven-officer reshuffle. Its account identifies the GNFC role as an additional charge held until further orders, which is materially different from describing Kumar as a newly appointed permanent managing director.
Why the wording matters
Everyone else is reporting a one-for-one executive swap; we are explaining the gap between a government nomination and a completed listed-company appointment. GNFC said Beniwal’s relinquishment and Kumar’s assumption of charge will be formalised at an ensuing board meeting.
The company will complete handing-over and statutory procedures and disclose the precise dates separately. Until then, the careful description is “nominated for additional charge,” not “installed for a fixed term.”
GNFC gets continuity, with an interim structure
GNFC manufactures fertilisers and industrial chemicals from its Bharuch base and has a board structure shaped by its state-government ownership. Kumar has previously served on the company’s board, according to GNFC’s earlier disclosures, so the additional charge does not introduce an entirely unfamiliar official.
