Google has launched its new Pixel 11 smartphone lineup, introducing the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL with a stronger focus on artificial intelligence, upgraded cameras and Google’s latest in-house processor. The company unveiled the devices at its Made by Google 2026 event on August 12, positioning the new smartphones as its latest premium challenge to Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy flagship range.

The Pixel 11 family is powered by Google’s new Tensor G6 processor and incorporates deeper integration with Gemini AI. Google has also redesigned parts of the camera system, improved battery performance and introduced new AI-powered photography and productivity tools. The lineup starts at $899 in the US, while Indian prices begin at ₹89,999 for the standard Pixel 11.

Google Launches Three Pixel 11 Models

The new flagship range consists of three main smartphones:

  • Pixel 11
  • Pixel 11 Pro
  • Pixel 11 Pro XL

Google has also introduced the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, a separate foldable flagship that expands the company’s premium hardware portfolio.

Pixel 11 Series Pricing

ModelUS Starting PriceIndia Starting Price
Pixel 11$899₹89,999
Pixel 11 Pro$1,099₹1,19,999
Pixel 11 Pro XL$1,299₹1,34,999
Pixel 11 Pro Fold$1,899₹1,86,999

The new generation represents a $100 increase over the comparable previous-generation US launch prices for the three conventional models. Google has attributed the broader price pressure in part to higher memory costs affecting the smartphone industry.

Tensor G6 Brings More AI Power

One of the biggest changes is the introduction of Google’s Tensor G6 chip.

The processor has been designed around Google’s strategy of combining smartphone hardware with AI capabilities. Rather than competing purely on conventional processing benchmarks, Google is emphasizing AI-assisted features that can run across photography, communication and everyday smartphone functions.

The Pixel 11 series also includes a new security chip designed to strengthen device protection alongside the Tensor platform.

Key Hardware Improvements

The new phones feature:

  • Tensor G6 processor.
  • Improved camera hardware.
  • Faster wireless charging.
  • Larger base storage configurations.
  • Brighter displays on Pro models.
  • Improved battery life.
  • A slimmer camera design.
  • Enhanced AI processing.

Google says the phones can deliver up to 30 hours of battery life, while the Pro models receive additional premium camera and display capabilities.

AI Becomes the Core Pixel Experience

Artificial intelligence is at the centre of Google’s Pixel 11 strategy.

The company has integrated Gemini more deeply into the smartphone experience, with AI features designed to assist with communication, photography, video creation and everyday tasks.

Among the new capabilities are:

  • Magic Capture for quickly capturing photos and video moments.
  • AI-powered photo and video editing.
  • Improved speech-to-text.
  • Live translation capabilities.
  • AI-assisted media translation.
  • New contact alerts through the HiLight system.
  • Enhanced creative tools for video production.

Google is effectively positioning the Pixel as a showcase for its Gemini ecosystem, rather than simply another Android smartphone.

Camera System Gets Major AI Upgrades

Photography remains one of the key differentiators for the Pixel series.

The Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL introduce features including Instant Night Sight, enhanced video stabilization and a 120x Pro Zoom capability. The phones also use AI to improve image processing and enable new ways of extracting and editing content.

Google has also introduced Camera Looks, which gives users additional ways to apply creative styles to photographs.

The combination of Google’s computational photography software and new hardware is intended to make the Pixel 11 lineup particularly competitive for mobile photography and video creation.

Pixel 11 Pro Models Target the Premium Market

The Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL are positioned as Google’s highest-end conventional smartphones.

The Pro models feature:

  • More advanced camera systems.
  • Brighter displays.
  • 120x zoom.
  • Premium materials and finishes.
  • Higher storage options.
  • Additional AI features.

The Pixel 11 Pro starts at $1,099, while the larger Pro XL starts at $1,299 in the US. In India, their starting prices are ₹1,19,999 and ₹1,34,999, respectively.

Google Expands Its Hardware Ecosystem

The Pixel 11 launch was not limited to smartphones.

Google also unveiled the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, Pixel Watch 5 and its first dedicated tracking device, Pixel Tag.

The Pixel Tag is priced at $29 and competes directly with Apple’s AirTag-style tracking devices. It works with Android devices and Google’s Find Hub network.

The broader launch demonstrates Google’s effort to create a connected hardware ecosystem around Android, Gemini and its Pixel brand.

Pixel 11 Versus Apple’s iPhone Strategy

Google’s smartphone business remains considerably smaller than Apple’s globally, but the company is increasingly differentiating Pixel through AI rather than attempting to compete purely on hardware specifications.

The Pixel 11’s deeper Gemini integration gives Google an opportunity to connect its smartphone business with its broader AI ecosystem, including search, productivity and cloud services.

This could become particularly important as smartphone manufacturers increasingly use AI capabilities as a major selling point.

Looking Ahead

The Pixel 11 launch represents Google’s most significant attempt yet to combine its smartphone hardware, Gemini AI ecosystem and proprietary silicon into a single premium consumer experience. With Tensor G6, improved cameras, longer battery life and a wider range of AI-powered features, Google is betting that software intelligence can provide a stronger competitive advantage as smartphone hardware becomes increasingly similar across manufacturers.

Looking ahead, the Pixel 11 series will face intense competition from Apple’s next-generation iPhone lineup and Samsung’s premium Galaxy devices. Google’s ability to turn Gemini’s capabilities into genuinely useful everyday features, while maintaining strong hardware reliability and competitive pricing, will determine whether the Pixel 11 can significantly expand the company’s position in the premium smartphone market.
