Mahindra Charge_iN has expanded to 50 live public fast-charging stations with more than 200 charging points. The latest site, at HP Auto Care Centre in Sajgaon on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, is the first operational station under Mahindra’s March 2026 collaboration with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited.

The September 24 disclosure turns the HPCL agreement from a partnership plan into a visible operating milestone. Mahindra says several more joint locations are in engineering or construction, while its wider goal remains 250 stations with about 1,000 points by December 2027.

Mahindra Charge_iN uses corridors before blanket coverage

Every Charge_iN station uses 180 kW dual-gun DC chargers, according to Mahindra. The company says compatible Electric Origin SUVs can move from 20% to 80% charge in about 20 minutes under stated conditions, although actual charging time varies with vehicle, battery temperature and available power.

The Sajgaon site explains the rollout logic. A fuel retailer supplies a known highway location and amenities; Mahindra adds high-power chargers and app-based discovery. That lowers the friction of finding land and gives drivers a stop that already supports food, restrooms and safe access.

What the milestone does and does not prove

Fifty stations show deployment progress, but they do not reveal how often the chargers are used, whether both guns can sustain rated power, or how reliably sites remain online. Those operating measures decide whether a charging network becomes infrastructure or a sparse collection of assets.

Mahindra says its owners can also see about 35,000 public charging points, including HP eCharge locations, through the Me4U app. That aggregation improves discovery, but it is different from owning or operating every listed charger. Charge_iN’s directly controlled footprint is the narrower 50-station, 200-point number.

The concise answer is that Mahindra Charge_iN has moved beyond a pilot into an early corridor network, with the first HPCL-linked site connecting vehicle sales, charging hardware and fuel-station real estate. Its next proof points are uptime, peak charging delivery, utilisation and repeatable construction speed.

What EV drivers and investors should watch

Drivers should watch live availability, pricing, payment interoperability and queue times. A 180 kW label matters only when a compatible vehicle can obtain useful power without long waits or repeated app failures.

Investors should track the conversion rate from 50 to 250 stations. Reaching the target requires roughly 200 additional sites and about 800 more points in 15 months. Updates that separate commissioned, under-construction and proposed locations will make progress easier to judge.
