Salesforce and Anthropic have expanded their partnership with Claudeforce, a new initiative that brings Salesforce’s CRM data, workflows, business logic and governed actions directly into Anthropic’s Claude AI. The first product, Salesforce in Claude, is a plugin with 37 prebuilt sales skills that allows users to analyze live customer and pipeline information, update records and take Salesforce actions without opening the traditional Salesforce interface. The product is currently available to select pilot customers, with an open beta planned for September 2026.

The move represents a significant change in how Salesforce expects its CRM to be used. Instead of requiring employees to navigate dashboards, menus and records manually, Claude can become the conversational interface while Salesforce remains the underlying system containing customer data, permissions, workflows and business rules. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff has described the strategy as moving from software being the interface to software powering every interface, while Anthropic’s Claude supplies the reasoning layer.

Salesforce Inside Claude At A Glance

The initial launch focuses on sales teams, but Salesforce and Anthropic say the partnership will expand into additional areas.

What Is Claudeforce?

Claudeforce is the expanded strategic partnership between Salesforce and Anthropic.

Its objective is to combine Claude’s reasoning and agentic capabilities with Salesforce’s enterprise data, workflows, business logic and governance.

The initial implementation puts Salesforce inside Claude.

A second direction brings Claude deeper inside Salesforce itself.

Salesforce In Claude Has 37 Sales Skills

The first product is aimed specifically at sales professionals.

The 37 prebuilt skills cover activities across the revenue cycle, including:

  • Meeting preparation
  • Deal health reviews
  • Pipeline reviews
  • Account analysis
  • Revenue planning
  • Pipeline updates
  • Sales research
  • Forecast-related workflows

The skills were built jointly by Salesforce and Anthropic rather than simply connecting Claude to a generic CRM API. 

Examples Of Salesforce Skills

Sales ActivityWhat Claude Can Do
Meeting preparationSummarize customer context
Deal healthIdentify risks
Pipeline reviewAnalyze opportunities
Account researchPull relevant CRM information
Pipeline updatesUpdate Salesforce records
Revenue analysisReason over live data
Daily planningPrioritize sales actions

This transforms Claude from a general-purpose assistant into a CRM-aware sales agent.

Users May Not Need To Open Salesforce

The most important change is the user interface.

Traditionally, a salesperson might need to:

Open Salesforce
      ↓
Find Account
      ↓
Open Opportunity
      ↓
Review Activity
      ↓
Check Emails
      ↓
Review Pipeline
      ↓
Compare Deals
      ↓
Update Records

With Salesforce in Claude, the intended workflow becomes:

Ask Claude
    ↓
Claude Reads Salesforce Context
    ↓
Reasons Across Data
    ↓
Recommends Action
    ↓
Executes Through Salesforce

The goal is to remove much of the manual navigation required by conventional CRM software. 

The CRM Does Not Actually Disappear

Despite headlines suggesting Salesforce has put its “entire CRM” inside Claude, the underlying Salesforce platform remains critical.

Claude is effectively becoming a new interface to Salesforce.

Salesforce still supplies:

  • Customer records
  • Account information
  • Opportunity data
  • Business rules
  • Permissions
  • Workflows
  • Metadata
  • Governance
  • Transaction execution

                ↓
       Salesforce Platform

This distinction is important because Salesforce’s strategy is not to abandon its CRM platform. It is to make the CRM accessible through AI interfaces.

Salesforce Calls This A “Headless” CRM Strategy

The technology behind the partnership builds on Headless 360, which Salesforce introduced earlier in 2026.

The platform provides APIs, MCP servers and command-line tools that allow AI agents to interact with Salesforce without using its traditional graphical interface. 

Traditional Vs. Headless Salesforce

This architecture is increasingly important as enterprises adopt AI agents.

MCP Is The Connection Layer

Salesforce in Claude relies on Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, alongside APIs and CLI tools.

MCP allows Claude to discover and interact with Salesforce capabilities in a standardized way.

The advantage is that Salesforce can retain control over what Claude is allowed to access and what actions it can perform. 

Existing Salesforce Permissions Carry Over

Security is one of the most important aspects of the partnership.

Salesforce says actions taken through Claude are routed through Salesforce and remain subject to the user’s existing permissions.

If a salesperson cannot access or modify a particular CRM record in Salesforce, the agent should not gain additional permissions simply because the request is made through Claude. 

      ↓

This allows enterprises to maintain a central security model rather than creating a separate permission structure for the AI assistant.

One-Time Administrator Setup

Salesforce says administrators can connect Salesforce in Claude once, with authentication and permissions managed centrally.

Individual sellers then receive access without requiring each employee to configure a separate integration. 

That is important for large enterprises where deploying an AI agent to thousands of employees can otherwise become an administrative burden.

Salesforce Says AI Agents Can Increase CRM Usage

The partnership also challenges a major concern surrounding enterprise software.

If employees stop opening Salesforce because Claude does the work for them, does that make Salesforce less valuable?

Salesforce argues the opposite.

Patrick Stokes, the company’s president of Applications and Marketing, said customers can use Salesforce more through agentic interfaces because the friction of navigating the traditional interface is reduced. 

Salesforce’s Argument

Old ExperienceAI-Agent Experience
More clicksNatural language
Manual searchesAI-generated synthesis
Fixed dashboardsDynamic interfaces
Manual updatesAgent-assisted updates
Limited interactionContinuous agent access

The company’s thesis is that the CRM becomes more valuable when its data and workflows can be accessed without forcing users to navigate the application.

Claude Could Become The New CRM Interface

The deeper implication is that Salesforce may no longer need to be the place where employees spend most of their time.

Claude could become the primary interface.

Before

Potential Future

This could change how enterprise software is designed.

The application becomes the system of record, while AI becomes the system of interaction.

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff Calls This A New Software Model

Benioff has argued that traditional enterprise applications required users to navigate static interfaces, while AI agents can access the underlying data and workflows directly.

Salesforce’s official announcement describes this shift as moving from software as the interface to software powering every interface. 

That represents a major philosophical change for a company whose business was built around browser-based CRM software.

Claude Is Also Moving Into Salesforce

The relationship works in both directions.

Salesforce is putting CRM functionality into Claude, while Anthropic’s Claude models are being integrated deeper into Salesforce.

Claude is available in Agentforce, Salesforce’s platform for enterprise AI agents.

It can serve as a reasoning model for Agentforce’s Atlas Reasoning Engine and is available in Agent Builder. 

Two-Way Integration

The two companies are therefore building an increasingly interconnected enterprise AI ecosystem.

Claude Is Becoming A Major Salesforce AI Model

Salesforce says Claude is the default model for several of its AI products and internal tools, including Slackbot, Salesforce in Claude, Headless 360, Agentforce Coworker and Claude Code across Salesforce’s engineering organization. 

The company also plans to make Claude Code and Claude Enterprise available to its developers and knowledge workers as preferred AI tools.

Slack Is The Third Piece Of The Strategy

Claudeforce also extends into Slack, which Salesforce describes as the place where humans and agents work together.

Claude is already integrated into Slack through features such as Claude Tag, while Slack remains the collaborative layer where employees can communicate and coordinate with agents. 

Salesforce’s AI Business Is Growing Rapidly

The Claudeforce announcement came alongside Salesforce’s fiscal second-quarter results.

Salesforce reported $11.35 billion in quarterly revenue, up 11% year over year. 

Its AI-focused Agentforce and Data 360 annual recurring revenue reached nearly $3.9 billion, more than triple the prior-year level, according to reports. 

Agentforce + Data 360 growth>210% YoY
Q3 revenue guidance$11.42–$11.50 Bn
FY2027 revenue guidance$46.1–$46.4 Bn

The AI partnership is therefore arriving as Salesforce increasingly relies on AI products as a growth engine. 

Salesforce Raised Its Full-Year Forecast

Salesforce raised its fiscal 2027 revenue forecast to between $46.1 billion and $46.4 billion, compared with its previous range of $45.9 billion to $46.2 billion. 

The company also raised its adjusted earnings-per-share forecast to $16.67–$16.71.

The stronger outlook reflects continued momentum in AI and data products, alongside expected contributions from acquisitions. 

Claudeforce Comes Amid The “SaaSpocalypse” Debate

The timing is particularly interesting because investors have been debating whether AI agents could undermine traditional software companies.

The argument is straightforward:

AI Agent
   ↓
Does Work For Employee
   ↓
Employee Uses Fewer Apps
   ↓
Fewer Software Seats
   ↓
Potential SaaS Revenue Pressure

Salesforce is effectively betting on a different outcome.

AI Agent
   ↓
More Access To CRM
   ↓
More Automated Work
   ↓
More Salesforce Consumption
   ↓
Greater Value Of CRM Data

Benioff has pushed back strongly against the idea that AI will destroy the traditional software model, pointing to continued growth in Salesforce’s seats and customer retention. 

Salesforce Wants The Data To Remain Indispensable

The company’s strategic argument is that AI models alone do not contain a company’s proprietary customer information.

Claude may provide the reasoning.

But Salesforce provides the enterprise context needed to make that reasoning useful.

Claude
= Intelligence

Salesforce
= Enterprise Context

Together
= AI That Can Act On Business Reality

That distinction could become increasingly important as enterprises deploy more AI agents.

The Business Model Is Also Changing

Salesforce’s move toward headless AI interactions could shift how customers consume its software.

Instead of every interaction happening through a human-facing application, Salesforce can provide data and actions to AI agents through APIs and other interfaces.

This creates opportunities for consumption-based pricing tied to agent activity.

Reports indicate Salesforce is already moving toward consumption-based pricing for AI-agent usage. 

Anthropic Also Gains From The Partnership

The relationship is valuable for Anthropic because Salesforce provides access to a massive enterprise customer base.

Claude can become more useful when it has access to trusted business context.

The partnership therefore creates a feedback loop:

Salesforce Customers
       ↓
More Claude Usage
       ↓
More Enterprise AI Adoption
       ↓
More Salesforce Data + Workflow Integration
       ↓
More Useful Claude Agents

Anthropic gets deeper enterprise distribution while Salesforce gets access to a leading reasoning model.

Why This Is Different From A Simple API Integration

Salesforce says Salesforce in Claude was built specifically around Claude’s reasoning, agentic tool use and generative UI.

The companies emphasize that it is not simply a generic CRM prompt layered over an API. 

Claude can dynamically generate interfaces around the user’s needs.

For example, instead of opening a fixed dashboard, a salesperson could ask for an analysis of the highest-risk deals and receive a tailored view based on live CRM information.

The Biggest Risk Is Also The Biggest Opportunity

If users increasingly access Salesforce through Claude, Salesforce’s traditional user interface could become less important.

That could weaken the visibility of Salesforce as an application.

But the company believes this will make its underlying data and workflow infrastructure more valuable.

Potential Outcomes

ScenarioSalesforce Impact
AI replaces CRM UIUI becomes less important
AI increases CRM usageData becomes more valuable
Agent consumption growsNew revenue opportunity
Customers use multiple AI agentsSalesforce becomes infrastructure
AI agents need trusted business dataCRM becomes more strategically important

The success of Claudeforce will therefore help determine whether AI threatens enterprise software or ultimately makes its underlying systems more valuable.

The Bigger Picture

Salesforce’s Claudeforce partnership with Anthropic is one of the clearest examples yet of enterprise software moving from application-centric interfaces to AI-centric interfaces. Salesforce in Claude gives Claude access to live CRM information, 37 prebuilt sales skills, Salesforce workflows and governed actions, allowing sellers to perform tasks without opening the traditional Salesforce application. Yet Salesforce itself remains the underlying system of record, controlling the data, permissions, business rules and execution layer. 

The move is especially significant because Salesforce is making this transition while investors are debating whether AI agents could undermine the SaaS business model. Salesforce’s answer is that the application may become less visible, but its data and workflows could become more valuable as agents increasingly depend on them. With Agentforce and Data 360 already approaching a $3.9 billion annual recurring revenue run rate, Salesforce is betting that AI will expand consumption of its platform rather than eliminate the need for it. 

Looking Ahead

The next test will be the open-beta rollout of Salesforce in Claude in September 2026. Adoption among sales teams will show whether employees actually prefer conversational and agentic access to CRM data over traditional dashboards. The 37 initial skills also provide a starting point rather than an endpoint, with Salesforce and Anthropic planning broader integrations across Claude, Salesforce and Slack. 

For the broader software industry, Claudeforce could become an important test of the “SaaSpocalypse” thesis. If users stop opening Salesforce but continue generating more CRM activity through Claude, the traditional application may become less important while the underlying data platform becomes more valuable. If Salesforce can successfully monetize that shift through agent consumption while preserving enterprise governance, the company could demonstrate a new model for how major SaaS platforms survive — and potentially grow — in an AI-first computing environment
