Freshworks has crossed $1 billion in annual recurring revenue (ARR), reaching the milestone in October 2026 ahead of its year-end target. The Nasdaq-listed software company reported third-quarter revenue of $245.4 million, up 14% year-on-year, as its strategy of targeting larger enterprise customers gained momentum. The company, which was founded in Chennai in 2010, has increasingly shifted its focus towards larger organisations and AI-powered business software.

The company also reported its second consecutive profitable quarter, with net income of $18.3 million compared with a loss of $4.7 million a year earlier. Its non-GAAP operating margin expanded to 29.8%, while adjusted free cash flow increased 29% to $73.9 million. Freshworks is now focusing on enterprise customers, AI-powered software and integrated service-management products to drive its next phase of growth.

Freshworks Crosses $1 Billion in Annual Recurring Revenue

Freshworks achieved the $1 billion ARR milestone in October, shortly after the end of its third quarter on September 30.

The company had previously expected to reach this target by the end of 2026. Crossing the milestone ahead of schedule highlights the progress of its enterprise-focused growth strategy.

Annual recurring revenue represents the annualised value of subscription revenue that a software company expects to receive from its existing customer contracts. It is an important metric for SaaS businesses because it provides an indication of the scale and predictability of their recurring subscription business.

However, ARR is not the same as reported revenue. It represents the annualised value of customer contracts at a particular point in time, while revenue is recognised according to accounting rules.

Freshworks ended September with approximately $992 million in ARR before crossing the $1 billion threshold in October. The company has not separately disclosed how much of its ARR growth came from acquisitions.

Freshworks Q3 Revenue Rises 14% to $245.4 Million

Freshworks reported revenue of $245.4 million for the third quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared with $215.1 million in the same quarter last year.

The 14% growth was supported by demand for its employee experience platform, IT service management products and AI-powered offerings.

The company also improved its profitability across several financial measures.

The results indicate that Freshworks is growing its revenue while improving operating efficiency.

Its GAAP net income of $18.3 million is particularly notable because the company reported a net loss in the corresponding quarter last year.

Non-GAAP operating income also increased substantially, reflecting stronger profitability after excluding certain expenses and adjustments.

Enterprise Customers Drive Freshworks’ Growth Strategy

One of the most important developments in Freshworks’ latest results is its growing focus on larger enterprise customers.

The company is attempting to move beyond its historical strength among smaller businesses and attract organisations that require more comprehensive software solutions.

Freshworks reported a 25% year-on-year increase in customers contributing more than $100,000 in ARR.

Customer categoryQ3 2026 customersYear-on-year growth
Customers contributing over $100,000 ARR1,821+25%
Customers contributing over $50,000 ARR4,257+18%
Customers contributing over $5,000 ARR25,498+5%

The increase in larger customers suggests that Freshworks is gradually expanding its presence among enterprise buyers.

These customers generally purchase multiple products and may generate higher recurring revenue than smaller businesses.

The company also reported that new multi-product employee experience deals increased by more than 35% during the quarter.

More than half of its new business involved partners, indicating that channel partnerships are becoming an important part of its enterprise sales strategy.

Freshworks CEO Dennis Woodside said customers increasingly want a unified platform and a single data model for managing service operations.

AI and Employee Experience Products Support Expansion

Freshworks is also investing in artificial intelligence to strengthen its software offerings.

Its product portfolio includes Freshservice, which helps businesses manage IT services, employee requests and technology operations, alongside Freshdesk, which supports customer-service operations.

The company is integrating AI capabilities into these platforms to automate repetitive tasks, improve service responses and help employees resolve technical problems more efficiently.

For enterprise customers, AI-powered service management can reduce the time employees spend handling routine requests and improve the management of internal technology operations.

Freshworks is positioning its products as an alternative to larger enterprise software platforms that can be expensive and complicated to deploy.

The company believes its combination of ease of use, faster implementation and AI capabilities can help it win larger corporate customers.

Freshworks Expands Through Acquisitions

Acquisitions have also become part of Freshworks’ strategy to strengthen its enterprise technology portfolio.

In October 2026, the company announced acquisitions involving Torii and Robusta Dev.

Torii: The acquisition expands Freshservice into software-as-a-service management and AI spending governance. Its technology helps businesses monitor software usage, manage subscriptions and track spending on AI tools.

Robusta Dev: The company provides AI-powered IT troubleshooting capabilities designed to help technology teams identify and resolve infrastructure problems.

Freshworks has also acquired FireHydrant, an incident-management software provider, earlier in 2026.

These acquisitions are intended to strengthen its employee experience and IT service management offerings.

They could also help Freshworks increase revenue from existing enterprise customers by offering more products through a unified platform.

However, the contribution of these acquisitions to the company’s reported ARR milestone has not been separately disclosed.

Freshworks Reports 104% Net Dollar Retention

Freshworks reported a net dollar retention rate of 104% for the third quarter.

Net dollar retention measures how much recurring revenue a company generates from an existing group of customers over a year, including upgrades, additional purchases, reductions and cancellations.

A rate above 100% means that revenue from existing customers has increased despite any customer losses or reductions in spending.

Freshworks’ 104% rate indicates that its existing customer base is generating more recurring revenue than it did a year earlier.

The figure was unchanged from the second quarter of 2026 but lower than the 105% reported in the third quarter of 2025.

This metric will be important as Freshworks moves further into the enterprise market, where expanding existing customer relationships can become a significant source of recurring revenue.

Freshworks Raises Profitability Expectations for 2026

Following its third-quarter performance, Freshworks provided its financial outlook for the fourth quarter and full year 2026.

The company expects full-year revenue to reach between $965 million and $966 million, representing approximately 15% year-on-year growth.

It also expects non-GAAP operating income of $238 million to $240 million.

Financial guidanceQ4 2026Full-year 2026
Revenue$253.5–254.5 million$965–966 million
Expected revenue growthApproximately 14%Approximately 15%
Non-GAAP operating income$68–70 million$238–240 million
Non-GAAP diluted EPSApproximately $0.21Approximately $0.71

The company also raised its full-year non-GAAP operating income outlook compared with its earlier projection of $222 million to $228 million.

This reflects management’s improved expectations for profitability as the business scales.

Freshworks ended September 2026 with $697.3 million in cash, cash equivalents, restricted cash and marketable securities.

The Bigger Picture

Freshworks crossing $1 billion in ARR marks an important milestone for an enterprise software company that started in Chennai as a customer-support software provider. Its growth reflects the opportunity for SaaS businesses to expand from smaller customers into larger organisations through broader product portfolios and enterprise-focused sales strategies.

The company’s improving profitability is also important. Software companies have traditionally prioritised rapid revenue growth, sometimes at the expense of operating margins. Freshworks is demonstrating that recurring revenue expansion and stronger profitability can progress together. However, maintaining growth will require continued customer acquisition, successful integration of acquisitions and stronger adoption of its AI-powered products.

Looking Ahead

Freshworks expects revenue to reach approximately $965 million to $966 million for the full year 2026, while its enterprise expansion strategy remains central to future growth. The company will need to demonstrate that its growing base of large customers can generate sustained subscription revenue and that its recent acquisitions can strengthen its product portfolio.

The next phase will also depend on how effectively Freshworks competes with established enterprise software providers while maintaining its reputation for simpler deployment and user-friendly products. Crossing $1 billion in ARR provides the company with greater scale, but sustaining profitable growth and expanding its enterprise customer base will determine its longer-term performance.
