Kotak Securities has rebranded its retail business as Kotak Neo, bringing its digital trading platform, investment products, research capabilities and relationship-led wealth services under a single customer-facing identity. The move, effective October 7, is aimed at creating a more integrated platform for investors as Indian retail participation in financial markets expands beyond traditional stock trading.
The rebranding does not change the underlying legal entity. Kotak Securities Limited will continue to remain the legal company, while Kotak Neo becomes the brand through which the retail business interacts with customers. Existing accounts, products, services and the regulatory framework remain unchanged. The company is also expanding its wealth proposition through Kotak Neo Private Client Group and Connect Plus by Kotak Neo.
Kotak Securities Rebrands Retail Business as Kotak Neo
Kotak Neo is designed to combine several parts of the investing journey within one ecosystem. The offering brings together digital broking, research, investment products, wealth management and human-led support.
The strategy reflects a broader change in investor behaviour. Customers increasingly want access to equities, mutual funds, derivatives, bonds, insurance, portfolio management and other financial products without having to manage multiple platforms or service providers.
According to Kotak Neo, the objective is to combine the convenience of digital investing with access to research, relationship managers and a nationwide physical network.

Kotak Neo Expands Beyond Stock Broking
The rebranding is more than a change in name. Kotak Securities is using Kotak Neo to broaden its positioning from a stockbroker into a more comprehensive investment and wealth platform.
The company offers access to stocks, futures and options, commodities, currencies, ETFs, mutual funds, IPOs, bonds, government securities, insurance and other investment products. It also provides thematic baskets, margin trading and global investing solutions.
This expansion could allow Kotak Neo to capture a larger share of customers’ financial assets rather than relying primarily on brokerage and trading activity.
For retail investors, the strategy could mean that the same platform is used for everything from short-term trading to long-term mutual fund investments and wealth planning.
New Private Client Group Targets Wealthy Investors
Kotak Neo has also launched the Kotak Neo Private Client Group, targeting high-net-worth individuals, including professionals and entrepreneurs.
The service uses an open-architecture approach, meaning customers can potentially access a broader range of investment solutions rather than being restricted to products manufactured by one financial institution.
The offering combines dedicated relationship management with institutional-grade research and wealth-management solutions designed around wealth creation and preservation.
This is strategically important because affluent customers can generate significantly higher-value relationships than ordinary trading accounts.
Kotak Neo is therefore trying to serve investors across multiple stages of their financial journey, from young self-directed traders to established high-net-worth clients.
Connect Plus Targets Financial Distributors
Kotak Neo has also introduced Connect Plus, a distributor-focused programme designed to expand the company’s reach through financial intermediaries.
The programme offers access to products including mutual funds, equity broking, insurance, portfolio management services and alternative investment funds.
This gives Kotak Neo another distribution channel beyond its direct digital platform and physical branches.
For the company, the combination of direct customers, relationship managers and external distributors could create a broader ecosystem for gathering and managing customer assets.
Kotak Neo Is Already a Large Retail Platform
The rebrand comes after several years of strong growth for Kotak Securities.
As of June 30, 2026, Kotak Neo had 67.52 lakh customers, compared with 22.5 lakh in FY21. The company said 70% of new customer acquisitions during this period were people below 35 years of age, while 67% came from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
Its physical presence includes 148 branches and 1,297 authorised persons across 344 cities. The business also benefits from the broader Kotak Mahindra Bank branch network.
Key Kotak Neo numbers
| Metric | Latest figure |
|---|---|
| Customers | 67.52 lakh |
| Depository participant assets | ₹17 lakh crore |
| Client assets in MF, PMS, AIF and ETFs | ₹36,500 crore |
| Branches | 148 |

| Cities covered | 344 |
| FY26 standalone total income | ₹5,461 crore |
| FY26 standalone net profit | ₹1,664 crore |
| Technology investment since FY21 | ₹1,000+ crore |
| FY26 technology spending growth vs FY21 | 190% |
Kotak Securities’ overall market share increased from 8% in FY21 to 13.2% in FY26, according to company data. Its derivatives market share rose from 7.3% to 15%, while commodity market share increased from 4% to 18%.
Technology Remains at the Centre of the Strategy
Technology is a major part of the Kotak Neo proposition.
The company says it has invested more than ₹1,000 crore in technology since FY21 and offers API-based order execution speeds of under 50 milliseconds.
The platform also includes tools such as Strategy Bot, trade-from-chart capabilities, options analytics, portfolio analysis and backtesting.
Kotak Neo is also incorporating artificial intelligence through Neome, an AI-powered research assistant designed to help customers access and explore Kotak’s research and market information.
Neome represents a shift from traditional investment applications that require users to navigate multiple menus, charts and research screens. Instead, users can interact with the platform using natural-language queries.
The company has said its AI approach is intended to assist investor judgement rather than replace it. Neome provides information and context but does not independently recommend investments or execute trades.
Younger Investors Are Becoming a Key Growth Engine
One of the most significant elements of Kotak Neo’s growth is the changing profile of its customers.
The company says 70% of new client acquisitions are below the age of 35, with a median customer age of 29. Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities account for 67% of acquired customers.
This highlights the opportunity created by India’s rapid expansion of digital investing.
Younger investors are increasingly comfortable opening accounts digitally, researching stocks online and managing their portfolios themselves. At the same time, they may eventually need more sophisticated products as their income and wealth increase.
Kotak Neo’s unified model is designed to retain those customers as their financial requirements become more complex.
Competition in India’s Broking Market Is Intensifying
Kotak Neo’s strategy comes at a time when India’s online broking industry has become highly competitive.
Discount brokers have made low-cost trading accessible to millions of retail investors, while established financial groups have responded by improving their digital platforms.
The competitive battle is consequently moving beyond brokerage pricing.
Speed, reliability, research, investment products, wealth management, AI-powered tools and customer experience are increasingly becoming important differentiators.
Kotak Neo’s advantage is its ability to combine a large financial-services group, research capabilities, physical distribution and a digital platform.
However, the challenge will be making those components feel like one seamless experience rather than separate products operating under the same brand.
The Bigger Picture
The Kotak Neo rebrand reflects a broader transformation in India’s financial-services industry. Investors are increasingly moving between trading, mutual funds, insurance, bonds, alternative investments and wealth-management products, creating an opportunity for financial companies to capture more of the customer’s overall financial relationship.
For Kotak, the strategy also provides a way to connect its digital customer base with the wider Kotak ecosystem. The company is effectively moving from a traditional brokerage model toward a broader wealth platform that can serve customers from their first digital investment account through more sophisticated wealth-management needs.
The scale of the opportunity is significant, but so is the competition. Kotak Neo will have to demonstrate that its combination of technology, research and human expertise can deliver a meaningfully better customer experience than specialised digital brokers and independent wealth platforms.
Looking Ahead
Kotak Neo’s next phase will likely focus on increasing customer engagement beyond trading while expanding its wealth-management offerings. The combination of AI tools such as Neome, broader investment products and relationship-led services could help the company increase assets and revenue per customer as its retail base matures.
The larger test will be whether Kotak Neo can successfully turn its large customer base into a unified wealth ecosystem. If it can combine digital convenience with personalised advice, research and access to a wider range of products, the rebrand could mark a meaningful shift in Kotak Securities’ position from stockbroker to full-service investment and wealth platform.
