Lenskart’s Gold subscription programme has crossed 1 crore active members in India and is approaching ₹300 crore in annual revenue, highlighting the growing contribution of its customer loyalty business. The milestone comes as the eyewear retailer expands its membership base and encourages customers to purchase multiple pairs of glasses through benefits, discounts and repeat-purchase incentives.

According to Lenskart’s Q2 FY27 shareholder update, the programme had 103 lakh active members at the end of September 2026, representing 38.6% year-on-year growth. Subscription fees received during the quarter reached ₹73 crore, up 54.6% from the year-ago period. At that quarterly collection level, the programme is approaching an annualised run rate of ₹292 crore, putting it close to the ₹300 crore milestone.

Lenskart Gold Crosses 1 Crore Active Members

Lenskart Gold is the company’s paid membership and loyalty programme, designed to encourage customers to return for additional eyewear purchases.

The programme offers benefits such as buy-one-get-one offers, lens replacement benefits and accumulated reward points, helping customers reduce the cost of purchasing multiple pairs. It is also intended to position eyewear as a fashion and lifestyle category rather than a product people purchase only when their eyesight changes.

The membership milestone represents significant growth from earlier years. Lenskart reported 88 lakh active Gold members at the end of FY26, compared with 68 lakh at the end of FY25. The figure increased further to 103 lakh during Q2 FY27.

Q2 FY27 subscription fees received₹73 crore
Year-on-year subscription fee growth54.6%

The annualised figure is calculated by multiplying the latest quarterly subscription fee collections by four. It is an indicative run rate, not a confirmed full-year revenue figure.

Subscription Fees Increase 54.6% in Q2

The programme’s financial performance is growing faster than its membership base.

Subscription fees received during Q2 FY27 reached ₹73 crore, an increase of 54.6% compared with the corresponding quarter last year. This suggests that the programme is generating more upfront subscription income as its customer base expands.

The difference between membership growth and fee growth is also worth noting. Active members increased 38.6%, while subscription fee collections rose 54.6%. This indicates that the increase in collections was not driven by membership additions alone.

The company has not provided a detailed breakdown of the contribution from new memberships, renewals or changes in subscription pricing in the reported figures.

Nevertheless, the growth demonstrates that Lenskart is building a recurring customer-payment relationship alongside its traditional eyewear sales business.

How Lenskart Gold Encourages Repeat Purchases

Eyewear has traditionally been a relatively low-frequency purchase for many consumers. Customers often buy glasses when they need a new prescription or when their existing frames become damaged.

Lenskart wants to change this behaviour by encouraging consumers to purchase different pairs for different occasions and requirements.

For example, customers may choose separate eyewear for office use, outdoor activities, driving, reading and fashion. A membership programme offering additional value on purchases can make buying multiple pairs more attractive.

Lenskart CEO Peyush Bansal described Gold as a major asset for the company in an interview with Moneycontrol on November 5, 2026. He said the programme is helping encourage customers to view eyewear as a category in which they can purchase multiple products each year.

According to Bansal, the company’s objective is to increase the frequency of eyewear purchases rather than treating every transaction as an isolated sale.

This approach could create a cycle in which membership benefits encourage repeat purchases, while repeat purchases make the subscription more valuable to customers.

Lenskart’s Broader Q2 FY27 Performance

The Gold membership milestone comes alongside strong growth in Lenskart’s overall business.

The company reported consolidated revenue from operations of ₹2,845 crore in Q2 FY27, an increase of 32.5% year over year. Profit after tax more than doubled to ₹232 crore, compared with ₹113 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

EBITDA before Ind AS 116 increased 65% to ₹392 crore, with the margin expanding to 13.8% from 11.1%.

India revenue increased 35.3% to ₹1,668 crore, supported by 26.5% growth in eyewear volumes and same-store sales growth of 20.8%.

The company added 143 net stores in India during the quarter, including 94 in Tier 2 and smaller markets. Its Indian retail network reached 2,868 stores across 665 cities.

These developments provide a wider customer acquisition platform for Gold. As Lenskart enters more cities and conducts more eye tests, it has opportunities to introduce its membership programme to new customers.

AI and Technology Support Lenskart’s Expansion

Lenskart is also investing in technology to improve customer experience and operating efficiency.

The company is using artificial intelligence across activities such as customer support, employee training, inventory management and eye testing.

One development is Drysh, an AI-assisted eye-testing system designed to allow customers to complete much of the testing process themselves under the supervision of an optometrist. The company believes this could help increase the number of eye tests conducted without requiring a proportional increase in specialist staff.

Lenskart conducted 80 lakh eye tests globally during Q2 FY27, while India recorded 70 lakh tests, representing 44.1% year-on-year growth.

The company also reported that remote optometry was available in 934 stores, compared with 303 a year earlier.

A larger eye-testing network can help Lenskart reach consumers who have not previously purchased prescription eyewear. These first-time customers represent an opportunity to build long-term relationships through its retail network and Gold membership programme.

Can Gold Become a Larger Revenue Engine?

Crossing 1 crore active members gives Lenskart a substantial base of paying customers. However, the long-term success of the programme will depend on more than membership growth.

The company will need to maintain renewals, encourage repeat purchases and ensure that the cost of membership benefits does not outweigh the financial value generated by subscribers.

Buy-one-get-one offers and lens replacement benefits can encourage customer loyalty, but they also have an impact on product economics. Lenskart must balance attractive customer benefits with sustainable margins.

Another important indicator will be how much additional spending Gold members generate compared with non-members. The company has not yet disclosed a detailed comparison of spending or profitability between these customer groups.

If Gold members purchase eyewear more frequently and remain subscribed over multiple years, the programme could become an important contributor to customer lifetime value.

The Bigger Picture

Lenskart’s Gold programme illustrates how traditional retailers are using subscriptions to build recurring relationships with customers. Instead of relying entirely on individual product transactions, companies can create membership ecosystems that encourage repeat purchases and improve customer retention.

The strategy is particularly relevant in eyewear, where customers have multiple reasons to purchase different products but may not naturally buy them frequently.

For Lenskart, Gold combines customer loyalty, upfront subscription collections and opportunities to increase eyewear consumption. Its growth also complements the company’s expansion into smaller cities, AI-assisted eye testing and premium eyewear products.

Looking Ahead

Lenskart Gold’s next milestone will be converting its 1 crore-plus membership base into sustained subscription collections and higher repeat-purchase activity. With quarterly fees reaching ₹73 crore, the programme is approaching an annualised run rate of ₹300 crore, although maintaining that level will depend on renewals, new subscriptions and customer demand.

The company’s ability to demonstrate that Gold members generate stronger long-term customer value will determine how important the programme becomes to its overall business model. As Lenskart expands its store network and reaches more first-time eyewear customers, Gold could become an increasingly important part of its growth strategy.
