Li i9 is Li Auto’s new six-seat flagship battery-electric SUV, priced at RMB 369,800 in China with deliveries due to begin in launch week. Announced on September 16, it puts a configurable, family-room-style cabin on the company’s second-generation electric platform rather than treating size as the only flagship feature.
Li i9: what changed
| Launch date | September 16, 2026 | Li Auto |
|---|---|---|
| China price | RMB 369,800 | Li Auto; CnEVPost |
| Layout | Six seats; single Home trim | Li Auto; CnEVPost |
| Battery and range | 101 kWh; 705 km CLTC | CnEVPost; CarNewsChina |
| Deliveries | Begin during launch week | Li Auto |
The product proposition starts with space. CnEVPost reports that the second-row seats rotate, allowing rear passengers to face each other around a table, while four seats can adopt zero-gravity positions. The arrangement is intended to switch among travel, lounge and cinema-like modes without changing the vehicle’s six-seat layout.
The Li i9 measures 5,225 mm long, 1,970 mm wide and 1,752 mm tall, with a 3,168 mm wheelbase, according to CarNewsChina. Those dimensions make packaging central to the launch: a long wheelbase creates room for three rows, but buyers still need to inspect luggage space when all six seats are occupied.
Energy hardware is equally important. Independent launch reports specify a 101 kWh ternary-lithium battery and a 705 km range under China’s CLTC test. Li Auto says its 5C system can add 500 km of rated range in ten minutes. That is a laboratory-style charging claim, not a promise for every charger, temperature or starting state of charge.
The dual-motor all-wheel-drive system is rated at 400 kW and 660 Nm, with a claimed 0–100 km/h time of 4.9 seconds. Steer-by-wire and rear-wheel steering are standard, according to CnEVPost. Those systems can shrink the turning circle of a large SUV, while also making software, redundancy and service procedures part of the ownership calculation.
Li Auto’s short English release confirms the event, price, seating and delivery timing. CnEVPost and CarNewsChina independently reported the launch and fuller specifications. Where those outlets cite company performance claims, this brief keeps the attribution intact rather than presenting range, charging or aerodynamic figures as independently tested results.
The cabin also shows where premium EV competition is moving. Screens and acceleration are easy to compare; seat geometry and usable modes are harder to copy well. A rotating chair must work with belts, airbags, child seats, floor rails and crash restrictions, so customers should ask which configurations are permitted while the vehicle is moving.
For buyers outside China, this is not yet a global availability announcement. The launch establishes the domestic product and price. Any export market would need separate homologation, charging support, software localisation and service coverage before the same proposition could be evaluated elsewhere.
Everyone else is reporting the price and range; we are explaining why the cabin is the real product bet. Li i9 will stand out if its adaptable seating remains safe, simple and genuinely useful after the novelty of a launch demonstration fades.
