Amagi Media Labs reported a nearly 30-fold year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to ₹74.8 crore for the second quarter of FY27, compared with ₹2.5 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Revenue from operations increased 27% to ₹475.8 crore from ₹374.8 crore, as the media technology company’s sales growth significantly outpaced the increase in expenses. The company also reported a 120.7% sequential increase in consolidated profit compared with the June quarter.

The September-quarter performance highlights a substantial improvement in Amagi’s profitability as its cloud-based software business expands. Total expenses increased approximately 9% year-on-year to ₹419.3 crore, considerably slower than revenue growth. Alongside the results, the company’s board approved two leadership appointments: former Accenture executive Bhaskar Ghosh as an independent director and Chief Technology Officer Srividhya Srinivasan as a whole-time director. The results were announced on November 5, 2026.

Amagi Q2 FY27 Results: Key Financial Numbers

Amagi’s consolidated financial performance improved across revenue, profit and total income.

Financial metricQ2 FY27Q2 FY26Growth
Revenue from operations₹475.8 crore₹374.8 crore27%
Total income₹501.9 crore₹389.6 crore28.8%
Net profit (PAT)₹74.8 crore₹2.5 croreNearly 30 times
Total expenses₹419.3 crore₹384.5 croreApproximately 9%

The numbers show that Amagi generated approximately ₹101 crore more revenue than in the year-ago quarter, while its total expenses increased by around ₹35 crore.

This gap between revenue and expense growth helped improve the company’s bottom line.

However, the nearly 30-fold profit increase needs context. The year-ago consolidated profit was only ₹2.5 crore, creating a relatively small comparison base. The absolute increase of approximately ₹72.3 crore is therefore more useful for understanding the improvement than the headline growth multiple alone.

Sequential Profit More Than Doubles

Amagi also delivered a strong improvement compared with Q1 FY27.

Revenue from operations increased 8.9% from ₹436.9 crore in the June quarter to ₹475.8 crore in Q2. Total income rose from ₹454.5 crore to ₹501.9 crore, an increase of approximately 10.4%.

Consolidated net profit increased 120.7% from ₹33.9 crore to ₹74.8 crore.

Financial metricQ1 FY27Q2 FY27Quarter-on-quarter growth
Revenue from operations₹436.9 crore₹475.8 crore8.9%
Total income₹454.5 crore₹501.9 crore10.4%
Net profit₹33.9 crore₹74.8 crore120.7%

The sequential improvement is important because it shows that the company’s profitability increased even against the immediately preceding quarter, rather than relying entirely on a low year-ago comparison.

What Does Amagi Do?

Amagi is a cloud-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) company that provides technology solutions to the global media and entertainment industry.

Its products help broadcasters, streaming platforms and content owners manage television and digital video operations through cloud infrastructure.

Its services cover three broad areas:

  • Content production and distribution: Technology that helps media businesses manage and deliver television and streaming content.
  • Cloud broadcasting: Software and infrastructure that support broadcast operations without requiring customers to depend entirely on traditional on-premises systems.
  • Content monetisation: Technology that helps media companies generate advertising revenue from their video content and streaming channels.

The business operates in a market where broadcasters and streaming companies are increasingly adopting cloud-based technology to improve flexibility, reduce infrastructure requirements and distribute content across multiple platforms.

For Amagi, this creates opportunities to generate recurring software and service revenue from media companies operating across different markets.

Why Did Amagi’s Profitability Improve?

The main factor behind the quarterly earnings improvement was the difference between revenue growth and expense growth.

Revenue increased 27%, while total expenses rose approximately 9%. This suggests that Amagi was able to increase business activity without a corresponding increase in its overall cost base.

Operating leverage is one possible explanation for this improvement. In a software business, certain technology development, infrastructure and administrative costs do not necessarily rise at the same rate as revenue. As the customer base and business scale increase, additional revenue can contribute more meaningfully to operating earnings.

The company’s reported total income also includes other income, which stood at approximately ₹26.1 crore during Q2 FY27. Consequently, total income and revenue from operations should not be treated as the same measure.

The improvement in profit reflects the combined effect of operating performance, other income, financing costs and taxes.

Standalone Results Also Show a Profitability Turnaround

Amagi’s standalone financial results provide another perspective on the quarter.

Revenue from operations increased 32.2% year-on-year to ₹306.53 crore from ₹231.83 crore. The company reported a standalone net profit of ₹51.15 crore, compared with a loss of ₹65.98 crore in Q2 FY26.

This represents a significant turnaround in the standalone business.

Standalone financial metricQ2 FY27Q2 FY26
Revenue from operations₹306.53 crore₹231.83 crore
Net profit/(loss)₹51.15 croreLoss of ₹65.98 crore
Total income₹331.55 crore₹245.63 crore

Standalone and consolidated figures measure different things. Standalone results cover the parent company, while consolidated results include the parent and its subsidiaries. The two sets of numbers should therefore not be combined or compared as if they represent the same financial statement.
